5 Questions with Eric Sweet, Sales Representative

We’re excited to welcome Eric Sweet to the Capital Sign Solutions team! Eric brings extensive sign industry experience and dedication to helping his clients’ businesses succeed to his new role as sales representative. Get to know Eric in our employee questionnaire:

Tell us about your experience in sales and the sign industry.

Working in sales has helped me develop a strong background in discovering client and business needs. I spent several years as a student at the University of North Dakota writing and analyzing detailed business plans. While completing my coursework there, I was awarded the Darktronics Intern Scholarship, which allowed me to travel extensively learning the digital signage industry. After graduation, I joined the sign manufacturing industry as a representative. Finally, I relocated to the southeastern U.S. to work with a variety of commercial clients with businesses that span that area.

What do you enjoy most about working in the sign industry?

Meeting and working with a wide variety of clients and venues. There is rarely a dull moment or day without a new challenge. My job allows me to be constantly learning.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I am extremely extroverted – one of my favorite activities is to befriend strangers and I am not afraid to talk to anyone! I like my colleagues to think of me as the “go-to guy” who people seek to get something challenging done. If there is a topic where I am not an expert, I am not afraid to learn so that I can become an expert. My goal is to learn something new every day and contribute to growth in our company.

Why are signs important to a company’s brand?

Traditionally, most signs are crafted as an afterthought of an established business. The final result can be significantly impacted by budget, sign codes set by municipalities, restrictive covenants, building design/engineering, etc. My goal is to educate clients on the front end of their business development process to help them choose an effective sign for their businesses to be successful.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?

Fishing, listening to country music, traveling (I have been to 41 out of 50 U.S. states) and renovating my home with my fiancée.
